    The Private Museum

    Holistic brand identity overhaul for The Private Museum Singapore, coinciding with the museum’s relocation to its new premises in a heritage building at 11 Upper Wilkie Road. Co-created through extensive workshopping and public-facing activations, the refreshed logomark and slogan lead a thorough revamp of the museum’s touchpoints, with the aim of underscoring its ethos of hospitality and bridging the private and public.

    Making a mark
    A suite of precisely constructed logomarks scale adaptively to meet the needs of signage, print, social media and publications, while a motion-based slogan identifier adds impact and consistency to the museum’s diverse exhibition marketing output.

    Setting the tone
    Typographic and tonal guidelines establish a consistent and hospitable voice for the museum. The type system extends to exhibition texts and wayfinding signage, building a solid and familiar basis which is complemented by typographic experimentation and variation in exhibition visuals.

 Identity system, book cover guidelines and publication design for National Gallery Singapore’s Art Writing imprint, a new peer-reviewed book series celebrating the diversity of art discourse in Southeast Asia. Building on the gallery’s existing brand language, the imprint identity establishes a functional and formula-based framework to systematise the visual direction of its diverse publications. The first title under the imprint, cultural writer Kong Rithdee’s translation of Thai artist Araya Rasdjarmrearnsook’s essay collection I Am An Artist (He Said), sets a precedent for the template and materiality of subsequent books in the series.

    Brand identity and website for Fundación Medianoche Cero (MEDIANOCHE0), a newly-launched contemporary art foundation, museum space and editorial platform based in Granada, Spain. Helmed by a display-forward yet responsive wordmark and brand symbol, the identity seeks to distil a sense of ornate mysticism drawn from Granada’s past, coupled with utilitarian digital influences from the foundation’s focus on 21st-century post-internet art. Recurring portal motifs throughout the website and collaterals allude to MEDIANOCHE0’s positioning as a transcendental space for younger generations of artists and audiences alike.Year: 2022

    Website and brand identity for reMIX, an architecture, landscape and urban design  studio based in Beijing, Shenzhen and Singapore. The articulated ‘r’ of the logotype hints at the studio’s intersectionality, while the website is organised according to stratified scales of intervention, from small installations to territorial extensions, reflecting reMIX’s approach of constructing places as multi-scalar ecologies.

    Cover and book form design for Hans Tan Studio and In Plain Words’ Hawker Colours: Melamine Tableware in Singapore, a collection of stories tracing the origins behind the spectrum of melamine plates and bowls integral to Singaporean hawker centre and coffeeshop culture, accompanied by survey findings that contrast the colours’ public popularity with their steady disappearance from newer establishments. The book cover translates the form of the ubiquitous tableware to paper, adopting the simplicity of the vernacular to bring focus to five of the titular colours.
